The situated-ness, physically, of the home was exhilarating and deeply satisfying. From the bedrooms, living room, and very large deck, you took in the medieval village of St. Jeannet on one side and the 15 kilometers of villages and the city of Nice and Mediteranean on the other. The aesthetics of the house are wonderful, the colors inside and out, the very large windows, and the enormous balcony with elegant outdoor furniture and large dining table and chairs. The master bedroom is elegant and the swimming pool area is very welcoming and totally private, with the pool being large enough to lap swim. The fact that the medieval village of S-J is only 10 minutes away, via lovely road, adds tremendously to the appeal.
The flip side of the view-location of the house is that it is quite a long and very twisty ride down from the house to the city of Nice, which of course includes its train station and airport. After a few days, one gets used to this 40-45 minute trip, but in the early days it's intimidating, and for riders in the back seat a bit of a white knuckle experience, especially in the evenings after dark. Without the navigational devices in our car and mobiles, I don't see how a newcomer could actually find their ways down and up -- but with these devices, is pretty easy.
The only downside re the house itself is that the owner has overstuffed the kitchen and DR with seconds and thirds on pots and pans and dishes, so that the cupboards are difficult to maneuver because they are filled to the top.
All this is to say the house isn't absolutely perfect. But it's about as close to paradise as you're likely to get on this earth.
